It Pays To Follow Up
There is something I’ve noticed over the years, is that if people do try (which is awesome) they barely ever ever follow up
I get:
– DM’s
– asks for interviews/podcasts
– presented opportunities
ALL THE TIME
If I’m 100% not interested?
I will say
But I am hyper-structured with my day; and because my inbox time is factored in I will often reply with something along the lines of:
‘In the middle of some thing right now, please DM me on XYZ day/time when I know I can address this fully’
I can recall about 25-30 instances this year I’ve said the same, you know how many ACTUALLY followed up?

Now imagine that’s YOUR business, can you see how much you are leaving on the table by not diarising follow ups?
Until you get an emphatic ‘no’ then it’s not a no yet!
Most of what I achieved pre you knowing me and *this* was born of the back of being politely relentless
Especially if YOU want something from THEM (aka it’s important to YOU) then you NEED to follow up more!
You are missing out on
– leads
– opportunities
– £££
By NOT doing so
That and instead of wondering ‘what if’ (as I used to do) I control my own processes as if I want something I open it, pitch/present/enquire, and continue until I get:
a) a positive outcome
Or
b) a no
I also used to have a sequence that was
– pitch
– follow up (3-7 more times)
– close out (I would wrap it up with a ‘you know where I am kinda message)
– (depending on the biz/opportunity) an evergreen follow up every 3/6/12 months
Just straight up tenacity will get you a lot farther as most people simply won’t do it
