You Don’t Deserve To Be Lazy, Unless…
You have to earn the right to be lazy
^^^Dexter said that to me a few years ago, and then something like
‘Shut up complaining, get to work’
And so I did
Now don’t get me wrong I am lazy, but I work extremely hard to NEVER have to do the things I don’t want to do
Equally I work very hard to kick the teeth out of my limitations and weaknesses
I’m a big fan of doubling down on your strengths…to a point
Once you have reached a certain level, it IS your weaknesses holding you back
Being lazy isn’t a bad thing
I will always advocate structured ‘doing nothing’ time as you will burn out
But most people simply aren’t working hard enough (and smart enough) to burn out
And if you are 100% happy with where you are?
My advice would be to keep doing what you are doing
Don’t do any more challenges
No more coaching
Stop telling people you are unhappy with XYZ
No more posts saying you are going to make 2019 your year/you’re going to do the thing you need to do
Because you won’t
And that’s ok
You have to choose your level of involvement
You have to choose how much you want it
You have to decide if you are going to keep making excuses or not
That is 100% your choice
But if you don’t look how you want…
Feel how you want…
Have the assets and influence you want…
You can keep pointing the finger, blaming circumstances, others or not accepting responsibility
That is 100% your right
Doing what needs to be done requires:
– Effort
– Sacrifice
– Time
– Discipline
What I’ve realised is you can have all the accountability and coaching you want
But only YOU can decide if you want to do it or not
No ones gonna make you write the posts…
No ones gonna connect you to someone epic…
No ones gonna chat to your family/friend/colleague on your behalf…
No ones gonna drop cash in your account…
No ones forcing you to overeat, drink too much, smoke…
No ones forcing you to exercise…
No
One
Is
Forcing
You
To
Do
Anything
No one
You are in control
Where you are right now – 100% down to you
If you CHOOSE to accept where you are in life then that’s YOUR choice
I say this as someone who has all too often blamed others and ‘situations’ for where I wasn’t
‘It’s ok for them because of X’ and other such things
It’s very easy to blame
Really it is
Now If me suggesting that you are lazy triggers you and pisses you off?
That’s on YOU
Not me
I don’t want to hear any excuses – you are where you are – own it
I’ve had to
Everyone successful at one point has had to
End of
It does not make you in any way less of a person or not ‘valuable’
I had to own the fact I was
– Overweight
– Functional alcoholic
– Depressed
– In debt
– Lonely
I blamed people and my situation over and over
Then I just decided – well i DEMANDED more from life
If I wanted more?
If I wanted change?
If I wanted all the things I felt I ‘deserved’
I HAD TO DO THE WORK
So I did
The diet DIDN’T start Monday
It started now
The pitches didn’t start when I’ve done XYZ
It started now
The drinking/smoking/parting didn’t ease down or be sensible
It stopped now
NOW
Is the time that matters
Doing what needs to be done when it ISN’T convenient, perfect or the right time is powerful
So why not take action NOW and start to make that happen?
